EMT Paramedic
The EMT-Paramedic involves individuals who have completed
an accredited Basic level training program. Paramedics can perform
advanced interventions including but not limited to intravenous
therapy, drug administration, chest decompression and Advanced Cardiac
Life Support. The Paramedic is also responsible for all Basic life
support. Paramedic courses are typically scheduled to start in
April and end in February of the following year. Please note
students are required to have a Body Structure and Function course
prior to entrance into the Paramedic program. Please see the Body
Structure page for more information.Upon completion of the course students will be eligible to take the National Registry practical and written examinations. Passing in all three categories is required to obtain your Paramedic certification.
Applicant Must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a valid drivers license
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Be free of any criminal convictions
- Be of good moral character and have motivation to serve
- Have three character references
- Satisfy requirements of OAC 4765-8-01
- Have completed a Body Structure and Function Course within one year of starting the Paramedic program
Pre-Admission Paperwork:
All students are required to have the following pre-admission paperwork in before the first day of class or students will not be able to attend.
- Current BLS for HealthCare Provider Card (must be good for the duration of your program. If it expires anytime within the program you must get a more current card)
- Current EMT-Basic state of Ohio or EMT-Intermediate card
- Current TB shot (TB shots are good for one year. Shots must be done the month before, or the month of your Medic program begins so they will be good for the duration of your program. Typically you get get TB shots from your local health department at little to no cost.)
- Childhood shot records including:
- Diptheria Toxoid
- Tetanus Toxoid
- Poliomyelitis Vaccine
- Hepatitis B Vaccination (This is a series of 3 shots and the series just has to be started for admission into class)
- TB Test
- MMR
- High School Diploma / GED
- Current Driver's License or Photo ID
- Current Physical Exam (We have physical exam forms here. If you have previously completed one, we can check to see if it meets the requirements for ours. Physical exams must be completed within one year of the start date of your Paramedic program.)
- FEMA 100 and 700
- 3 Completed Reference Forms (These are kept at the Academy and can be emailed to students)

- $600 Book Cost (approximately)
- $5,000 Tuition Fees
- $110 Registration Fee
- $110 Clinical Fees
- $110 National Registry Testing Fee
TOTAL $5,920.00 (approximately)
The registration fee is due at the time of registration and is required to be at least two weeks prior to the first day of class. It covers the cost of a background check, ID badge, and shirt that students are required to wear to class.
Tuition payment plans are available for students not being covered by a department. Payment plans are broken up into four quarters. The dates of the payments will be on the dates of the quarterly finals in class and typically range between 9 and 13 weeks each quarter.
Book cost is due on or before the first day of class so that students may take the books home with them.
FISDAP and National Registry fees are paid directly to those respective companies. The FISDAP fee is for ride time registration and also pre-registry exam training. The National Registry fee is so you are able to take your National Registry Written exam to get your Paramedic card.
